Review of our Week:

We have had a very busy week.  We have been reading new stories in our readers, learning about the westward expansion and in math we are working on equal shares, time and money. We have also been doing some writing pieces.  I have been very pleased with the writing.

Field Trip:

We will be going to Discovery Park on Monday, May 13 from 9:15-10.45.  Please make sure your child is here on time.  We will leave right after 9.  I am sending home a permission slip.  Please fill it out and send it back.  If you would like to meet us at the park during this time, you are more than welcome to. Please make sure your child has sunscreen on.

Reading Parents:

I really wanted to thank all of you who have taken the time to come in and read this year.  I know it takes a lot of time, but it really has made a big difference with helping our class learn how to read this year.  This week was our last week.  If you would still like to come in next week, you are welcome to. Thanks again for everything you have done this year.

Color Run Booster:

I am really excited about our Color Run Fundraiser this year.  I sent home a flyer the other day that you can go on and register to donate.  Our goal is $10,000.  You can have friends, neighbors and family members donate.

Field Day Volunteers:

I do need 2 parents who are willing to come on field day and walk our class around to each event.  If you can help with that, please let me know.

Review of our week:

We have had a really great week.  We are working on double digit addition.  We are still working on our unit in Listening and Learning about how America became a country.  We are doing really well in our reading unit.  We only have a couple more weeks with take home books, please take advantage of this great resource.

We will be doing our DIBELs test on Tuesday, May 7.  Please, please keep reading with your child.  The reading at home makes such a difference.

Mountain Eye Institute’s Kite Flight:

I am sending home another copy of the reading calendar.  Remember these are the same minutes your child has been reading for class.  If you are unable to make it, see if a neighbor or someone can drop it off.  The PTA gets money for each calendar that is turned in.  It is a great fundraiser for the school.  It is this Saturday at Cedar Middle School from 10:00-3:00.

Review of our week:

We finished our last reading unit today and will be starting a new one on Monday.  In math we have been working on place value and adding/subtracting double digit numbers.  We read the story Flat Stanley.  It is about a boy who is flat and his parents mail him to visit a friend in California.  I have included a letter explaining all about our activity.  Please pick someone who will have fun with this activity for your child.  Please send me an address as soon as possible.

Miss Becker’s last day will be next Friday.  She will be greatly missed.  She has been an amazing part of our class.

Take Home Books and Reading:

Please make sure your child is doing their reading every night.  Everyone is making progress right now. I can really tell those who are doing their reading homework.  There are a lot of students who are not bringing their take home books back.  Please make sure your child is reading their books and bringing them back every day.  This is a great resource, please take advantage of it.  We will only have them for about a month or so.

Review of our week:

We had a fun day celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Leap Day this week.    I am so excited about the progress our class is making.  I have seen a lot of students move up in their reading levels and math is going very well. In math we are working on place value.  We will be taking a test next week. We finished with our unit about animals and their habitats. We will start on the layers of the earth.

I love that this class is loving reading.  Most of the class wants to get their library books out and read them any chance they get.

The end of the school year is right around the corner.  I know this time of year gets really busy.  Please help your child to continue reading every night.  Remember to fill your monthly reading record and the Kite Flight reading record as well.  This is a great fundraiser for our school.  The PTA gets money for every reading record that is turned in.
