November 28 Newsletter

Mrs. Bali’s First Grade News

October 28, 2022

Review of our week:

We had an amazing assembly by Chad Hymas.  If your child hasn’t told you about it, please ask him. We have also enjoyed Red Ribbon Week. In Math we are still working on addition strategies. We will have a test next week.  In reading I had moved several students in their reading levels. I can really tell who is doing their reading at home.  Reading records will be due on Tuesday.  If you would like more books for your child to read, please let me know.

Book Orders:

I have included a book order.  You can click on the link at the bottom on the email and order online.  They will be due on Friday, November 4.  If you are ordering books for Christmas, please let me know.  I won’t send them home with your child, but I will let you know when they come in.

Veterans:

I would like each child to find out if they have any Veterans in their family.  If they do, I would like them to find out any information and find pictures.  If you could send things that we can keep, at least for awhile that would be great. If you can make a copy of the picture, so that we can keep it, that would be the best.  If it is something that your child can just bring for the day and share, we would love to see it.  Part of our First Grade core is American Symbols, so we are going to be really focusing on patriotism.  If you could send them sometime in the next couple of weeks, that would be great.

FYI:

*Now that is starting to get colder, please make sure your child is bringing a jacket and or coat.  We will usually still go out unless it is below freezing or it is snowing.  Also, to be out in the snow, they have to have snow boots on.  They need to be waterproof snow boots.

*I have a lot of students coming late again.  When they are coming late they are not getting their bell work finished, so they have to miss part of their recess.  If you can make sure they are here on time, I would really appreciate it.  Also, if your child is eating breakfast, will you remind them that they need to eat quickly and not be playing.  I have a lot that are late, because they are eating breakfast.

October 14 Newsletter

Mrs. Bali’s First Grade News

October 14, 2022

Review of our week:

In math we have been working double facts.  I sent home a couple of games and a Doubles Rap that you can help your child learn these math facts.  I will send home flashcards next week. I have been seeing a lot of progress in reading.  I am very happy about that. We made some fun Halloween writings and projects. I just wanted to thank all of you for your help and support.  I really do appreciate it. You are all so wonderful.

Field Trip:

We are going to the Robinson Family Pumpkin Patch on Wednesday, October 19.  I sent home a permission slip.  They ask for $1 to pay for the pumpkin your child will get to pick. It is due by Monday, October 17 with the permission slip.  If you would like to come with us, we would love to have you meet us there.  There won’t be room on the bus.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Sight Words:

Please continue to practice these with your child.  If they don’t know the sight words, it really holds them back in their reading.  If you don’t know where the list is please let me know and I can get you a new one.

Carving Pumpkins:

I only have 3 dads so far that can come and carve pumpkins.  If you are able to come and help carve pumpkins, please let me know.  I want to make sure I have enough pumpkins.  It will be Monday, October 31 at 10:00.

Please make sure your child is reading their take home books and returning them on Tuesdays.
