Review of our week:

We had a great 100^th day of school. We made 100 pancakes and did a lot of fun things. In math we are working place value. We will finish up the chapter and will be taking our test next week. In our reading program we are reading an informational text about animals. In listening and learning we are learning about astronomy.

Take Home Books:

I have several students who are not reading their take home books and I can tell in their reading. Even if your child is reading on a higher reading level, they still need to be reading every night. I have a couple who, their fluency rate has dropped since Christmas. They really need to get that practice in.

Valentine’s Day:

We will be exchanging Valentines in our class. If your child would like to bring Valentine cards please make sure there is enough for each child in the class. I have attached a list of all the students in our class to the email. If you would like to send your child’s Valentines early I will just keep them in my office. If you have any questions please let me know.

Review of our week:

In math this week we are still working on Place Value. We will be celebrating the 100^th day of school on Tuesday. I can’t believe how fast it has gone. We are doing really well with our informational texts. The class loves learning about the different animals.

Reading Groups:

This week we started some new reading groups. Every day, except Wednesdays we will be doing reading groups with the Literacy Center, Mrs. Marriott and the First Grade Teachers. We have split the first graders into groups and they are reading books or stories on or above their reading levels. I am very excited about this and we will see some great progress.
