Review of our week:

         In math we started on Chapter 4(Subtraction strategies). I will make a copy of subtraction flashcards and send them home next week. Please, take some time to help your child practice these. You can also purchase a set from Walmart for just a few dollars

         Thank you for those of you who sent information about your veterans.  We learned some really neat things.  If you have not sent the information in, you can still do it next week.

        

Homework:

         I can’t stress to you enough how important it is that your child is reading every night.  Your child should be reading the full 20 minutes by now.  They are doing it in class, so I know they can do it at home also.  I also have several students who are not practicing their sight words.  This really holds them back from advancing in their reading.

Cold Weather:

         The weather changes so much from day to day.  Please make sure your child has a warm jacket and or a coat to wear outside to recess.

        

Box Tops:

         As you are doing your baking and cooking for the Holidays, make sure you are keeping your Box Tops.  Our class won a doughnut party on Thursday for having the most.

Review of our week:

We are still working on addition strategies. I am so happy about the reading levels.  I can really tell who is reading at home.  It is making a big difference with their reading abilities.   

If you have a Veteran in your family, please find out any information about them an send a picture of you can.  I will display the pictures and information and then I will put it in your child’s portfolio.

F.Y.I’s:

*Please make sure your child is brining at least a jacket if not a coat (we will need them soon) everyday, as it starts to get cold.  You never know from 1 day to the next what it will be like when we go out.  We go out to recess 3 times a day.  They need something to keep them warm.

* Library is on Tuesday for our class.  The last couple of weeks several in our class have not brought their books back. Please make sure your child has their books back on Tuesday.

* If your child is absent you need to call the office and excuse them.  If the school has not heard from you by 10:00, somebody will be calling to check on them.  Please take the time to call or send an email.  If you send a note to me, please let the office know as well.  I don’t always get notes in time.

Book Orders:

         I am sending home the Book Orders for November. If you are ordering books for Christmas just let me know, so I can pull them.  If you would like to order books they are due back by Thursday, November, 8^th.  If your child has had a birthday or has one coming up I am sending home a certificate for them to pick a book for their birthday.  Please send it back to school with your child.
